Tilly’s Rest is a custom tiny home retreat nestled among the trees in Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island. Designed as two separate dwellings connected by a generous covered deck, the completed home creates more room to sleep, gather and unwind without losing the character of tiny living.
Beside the main living area sits Buddy, a smaller dwelling with a private ground-floor queen bedroom and built-in storage. Between the two homes, a six-metre covered deck becomes the heart of the property, creating an all-weather space for outdoor dining, entertaining and relaxed evenings among the trees.
Together, the two dwellings create a comfortable and flexible footprint for couples, families and small groups.

The Design
Small spaces that work together.
Rather than placing every room within a single structure, this custom design separates the sleeping and living spaces across two complementary dwellings.
Tilly includes a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, gas cooktop, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. The kitchen opens directly onto the covered deck through a bi-fold servery window, allowing the indoor and outdoor areas to function as one connected living space.
The bathroom sits on the ground floor, while storage stairs lead to a full-height central catwalk and two separate loft bedrooms. Each bedroom includes a queen-sized bed, built-in storage and views across the surrounding bushland.
Buddy provides a third queen bedroom at ground level, offering a more accessible and private sleeping space away from the main dwelling.
The covered deck joins everything together. Pull-down blinds and overhead heating allow it to be used throughout the year, creating a sheltered place for meals, quiet mornings and evenings watching the local wildlife.
